Two Decades of College Student Character and Values Development:A Retrospect and a Call to Future Action

February 4-6, 2010

Tallahassee, FL

Florida State University

The Jon C. Dalton Institute on College Student Values has focused on issues related to trends in college students' values for two decades. The 20th Annual Dalton Institute will serve as an opportunity to reflect upon the values movement over the past twenty years, as well as a Call to Action for the next generation of scholarly research and innovative practice.

Major topics of discussion can include:

What are future opportunities in values and character initiatives?

What longitudinal trends exist that focus on civic engagement and leadership?

What are practical applications of values in higher education?

What are some moral and ethical issues facing college students in the 21st century?

What are some spiritual development issues among college students?

The 2010 Dalton Institute will feature a mix of concurrent sessions, keynote lectures, roundtable discussions, and informal activities all designed to complement each other. We intend to begin activities with a world-famous keynote speaker at 1:00pm on February 4, and end with a luncheon on Saturday, February 6. A more detailed schedule will be released later, but please check this website frequently for more information.
